That is the part I painted yet. I had to paint that section before I put the head on, else I could have not reached every spot.

How are you making this? Is there a certain blueprint you're going by or is it all by hand and memory?

First there are good 3D Models of the MLP Characters in deviantart [link]
I modifyed them so they have only an outer Layer and removed all the inner parts (took about 5-6 hours).
After that, I bought myself Pepakura [link] a GREAT programm to convert any 3D Model into an papercraft.
It took me again about 4-5 hours to arrange everythink the way I wanted it, see here: [link]
All the cutting out, retracing the folds with a scalpel, folding and glueing took me now close to 200 hours.
When this will be finished, I will release all the 70 pages of cutout, so that anyone who has 200+ hours to spare can build his own model.
It does not have to be that big, If you would print it on A4 paper, instead of (larger then) A3, it would be much smaller.

Next Project will be:
I try to get my Kinect to work on my PC, 3D scan my Kids Heads and build a papercraft from that.

you can do it with camera and Autodesk 123D Catch. But, Kinect maybe will be easier...

I did some tests, works fine so far.
When my mount for the kinect arrives, I will try it.
